Agreement for geophysical exploration has signed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Eastern ECHO DMCC.Eastern ECHO DMCC aims to invest $50 million. Mr. Phil Davey stated that they expect to spread wide data collection in Sri Lanka.

“We are very excited to begin the understanding of petroleum industry in Sri Lanka. This is technologically very advantage to continue to make progress. There’s lot of research and developments requires to this project. It will take around one year to understand the geology of the data, which would be the first step.” He stated.

“This brings new technology to the country. We will be able to identify extract data, after the detailed analysis. In this particular project, we are starting from different parts of the country. We can say that perception would repeat in northern eastern. We don’t know whether it will be success of finding oil or gas. But understanding of the geology will improve” He added further.  

Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Arjuna Ranatunga, Director General of PRDS Mr. Vajira Dassanayaka and several dignitaries were graced the occasion.
