“The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has been set up as a state enterprise by Act. No.28 of 1961 in Parliament with the main objectives of, to carry on business as an importer, exporter, seller, supplier and distributor of Petroleum products. Also to carry on business of exploring for the exploiting, producing, and refining of Petroleum and to carry on any such business as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objectives.”I am pleased to forward my message to you as the Deputy Minister of Petroleum Resources Development, with the above title, for the accomplishment of the above objectives.

It is my firm belief that dreams can be achieved through determination, commitment and relentless perseverance.

For this endeavor we need talented people equipped with real skills and commitment, as well as agility and the passion to perform. The development and management of our human resource in the organization will be the key to success. According to my personal experiences although the explicit knowledge such as paper qualifications is useful, the tacit knowledge is more important for the success of an organization, because “Only useful knowledge is useful”

Our targets are ambitious, and conditions before us are challenging. Nevertheless we remain confident that we can meet and exceed our goals, as we pursue our mission and vision we are confident that the strategic direction we have chosen is sound, because now we are moving in the right direction on the good governance path.

In conclusion, I would like to request your continuing support to contribute to the effort of the Government of Sri Lanka, by achieving our vision, which is “To be the premier customer driven, environmental friendly enterprise in the petroleum and related industries in the region while contributing towards the prosperity of our nation” in order to enhance the quality of life of our citizens.
